What’s the Big Idea? Business Scholarship

Greater Woodbury Chamber of Commerce

The Greater Woodbury Chamber of Commerce proudly awards business scholarships to graduating seniors through proceeds from our Annual Golf Event. Beginning in 2026, we are introducing What’s the Big Idea?, a competitive scholarship opportunity designed to support future business leaders from our local high schools.

This program encourages students who plan to major in business, entrepreneurship, or a related field to share their ideas, vision, and motivation for creating positive impact through business and leadership.

Scholarship Awards

Three $2,000 scholarships are awarded each year to graduating seniors from:

  • Gateway Regional High School
  • Woodbury High School
  • West Deptford High School

One student from each school is selected.

Eligibility Requirements

Students must:

  • Be a graduating senior at a participating high school
  • Plan to pursue a business related major in college
  • Be recommended by their high school guidance department

How the Scholarship Competition Works

Round One: Essay Submission
Applicants submit a 500 to 750 word original essay responding to the prompt What’s the Big Idea? Students are asked to describe how they hope to make an impact through business, leadership, entrepreneurship, or innovation.

Essays are reviewed by a Chamber committee using a standardized scoring rubric. Top applicants from each school advance to the interview round.

Round Two: Interview
Finalists participate in a live interview with members of the scholarship review committee. Interviews may be conducted in person, virtually, or by phone.

One finalist from each school is selected as a scholarship recipient.
